Identity theft remains one of the largest crimes lately and seems to be taking even more twists as people steal the identity of another person. The reason someone would do this is because they do not have the resources via their own identity, to achieve or get what they want.
As an example of how the crime of identity theft is taking on even more new looks, consider some of the additional twists that the crime of identity theft is taking. For example, we all know that health insurance remains out of the financial reach of a surprising number of people. If your employer does not provide it or if you are self employed, many times the cost of private health insurance is just not in the budget because of the very high costs associated with a “non group” plan.

A potentially exempt transfer or PET for short is one of the best known of the devices that can be utilised in the United Kingdom to save inheritance tax. In simple terms, ordinarily, if an absolute gift of money or property is made to a beneficiary and the donor survives for a period of 7 years, the original gift becomes tax-free for IHT purposes.
There are, of course, exemptions to this rule. The most common of which not everyone is aware relates to the gift with reservation rules. For instance, if a mother gifts her daughter her 3 Carat diamond ring (worth £50,000.00) and continues to wear the same then the gift will not be treated as a PET even if she was to survive the original gift by 20 years.

Attorney advertising is everywhere–in the phone book, on the internet, in magazines, on television, and in every other type of media imaginable. Personal injury attorneys obviously account for most legal advertising. In fact, personal injury attorneys probably account for more popular media advertisements than all other types of lawyers combined. In an odd twist, however, most good personal injury lawyers (the ones with lots of trial experience and good reputations among the bar and with judges) have little need for expensive advertising. They don’t need to advertise, because clients are referred to them. On the other hand, lawyers with limited trial skills who advertise heavily and give the impression that they are experienced saddle the legal profession with a bad name. They are the ambulance chasers.

Mrs. Jones came to see me after the death of her husband because she wanted help on the distribution of his property. She had gone to her bank to withdraw one of her CDs (certificates of deposit) in the name of both her and her husband. The bank officer stated, “Since your husband has died, we can’t release these funds to you without a court order.”
Warning! Joint Tenancy May Not Mean Right of Survivorship
Although the account was in both their names, it didn’t specify right of survivorship. That’s the first problem with joint tenancy: The belief that the right of survivorship exists just because both names are present on the document; the ownership must actually indicate a right of survivorship.
