Strengths / Features:

• The
  Akiles Megabind 1E is made almost entirely of metal. The body of the
  machine, the handle, the comb opener and all of the internal components
  are made of high quality steel. The metal construction of this machine
  is designed to ensure that it will last for years in organizations that
  bind documents on a daily basis.
• The Megabind-1E is a legal
  sized plastic comb binding machine with 24 fully disengageable dies.
  This means that it can be used to punch almost any size of paper
  imaginable. In fact, it can be used for binding: letter size, legal
  size, A4, half letter and for punching oversized covers. It even
  includes a continuous punching control that allows for punching
  documents that are longer than 14 inches.
• The Megabind 1E
  also includes a depth of punch margin control and a heavy duty plastic
  comb opener. These features make it possible to bind documents with
  plastic combs that are as small as 3/16″ and as large as 2″ in
  diameter. This means that the Megabind1E can bind documents with up to
  425 sheets of 20lb bond paper. The machine even has a built in binding
  guide on the document table to help you choose the right size of comb
  for your project.
• This machine includes a foot pedal control
  for activating the punching mechanism. Using the foot pedal for
  punching documents allows users to hold the sheets with both hands when
  using the binding machine. This helps to increase productivity and
  reduces mispunches.

Weaknesses / Limitations:

• The
  Akiles Megabind 1E has recently been upgraded with a new motor. The
  previous motor had a punching capacity of only 12 sheets. However, the
  new motor is capable of punching up to twenty sheets of paper at a
  time. This isn’t quite as many sheets as the CombMac but is fairly
  decent.
• The chip drawer on the Akiles Megabind 1e is located
  on the rear of the machine. This makes it difficult to access and empty
  on a regular basis. It would be nicer if the chip drawer was located on
  the front of the machine.

Recommendation:

• The
  Akiles Megabind 1e is ideal for organizations that are looking for a
  heavy duty machine that will be reliable for years of daily binding.
• The
  metal construction, electric punching mechanism, depth of punch margin
  control , legal size throat and continuous punching guide make the
  Megabind1e one of the most feature rich machines available on the
  market.
• However the fact that this machine can only punch
  twelve sheets of paper at a time does not make this machine ideal for
  high volume use.
